Course Description
The Digital 3D Modeling course will allow students to utilize digital 3D modeling for concept creation, digital fabrication, and 3D animation. This course is an introduction to 3D modeling and will introduce students to different modeling methods with no prior knowledge necessary. Students will learn the difference between organic and inorganic 3D modeling, nurbs and polygon meshes, and the importance of topology. Students will learn how to texture, light, and render their pieces and how to optimize 3D models for 3D printing or 3D animation. The programs utilized will be Autodesk Maya and Adobe Substance Painter, which students can get free student licenses for. This course will be comprised of weekly tutorials, in-class exercises, and critiques.
